Arsenal are weighing up a move for a new midfielder as it appears Granit Xhaka’s days at the club are numbered.
Arsenal have been linked with a wide range of midfielders to replace Xhaka this summer, but today a new name, Bruno Guimarães. A new name for this summer at least. Back in January 2020 when Bruno joined Lyon, Arsenal were also interested.
The news emerged on Thursday afternoon when reliable journalist Raisa Simplicio reported for Goal Brazil that Arsenal have put Bruno back on their radar. Sport Witness have also since confirmed Arsenal’s interest.
In the report it suggests that Arsenal have already held preliminary talks with Lyon for the player and now they are weighing up making a formal offer, after Locatelli rejected a move to The Emirates.
Rated at £27million on transfermarkt, it is thought that Lyon would listen to offers in excess of £30million for the player – as although they are reluctant to part with the player, their difficult financial situation means they will be powerless to a high bid.
This shouldn’t be a difficult amount for Arsenal to reach, considering they were reportedly interested in Sassuolo and Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli at a similar price point.
Bruno is a very talented midfielder and aged 23, still has room to grow his game and improve. A midfield duo of Bruno and Partey is an exciting prospect.
The signing of Bruno certainly looks like it would be a popular signing for Arsenal if they were to complete it, with fans reacting jubilantly to the rumours on Twitter this afternoon.
Bruno is currently starring at the Olympics alongside Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, for Brazil.
We think there could be legs to this one.
