Report: Arteta asks Arsenal to sign 4 time Champions League winning creative midfielder

The January transfer window is little more than a month away and Arsenal will be desperate to strengthen their squad given the huge deficiencies in certain areas.

The midfield appears to be an area in need of attention and Mikel Arteta has asked Arsenal to sign Real Madrid outcast Isco, on loan in January, with an option to buy at the end of the season. That is according to an ‘exclusive’ from Spanish outlet Defensa Central.

The Gunners are lacking creativity in midfield and it seems Isco has been identified as a top class option, who will also be likely available in the January window.

28-year-old Isco has failed to cement a place in the Real Madrid team in recent years, and this season is no different. With just 3 La Liga starts, he has struggled to impress boss Zidane. Since moving to Madrid from Malaga, he’s had an indifferent career at the club, and now he is set to turn 29 in April 2021.

Isco will surely be keen to rediscover his best form. A move to England could be on the cards and Arsenal are not the only club said to be interested in his services. Everton, who have signed James Rodriguez on a similar deal, are also said to be in the race for Isco.

Arsenal are believed to also be exploring some younger options like Houssem Aouar and Dominic Szoboszlai of Salzburg. But Arteta may have his eye on more than one addition in January and someone of Isco’s proven ability, as well as a younger addition, could appeal to the boss.

Fans will be conscious of wanting to avoid a similar situation to Mesut Ozil, but Isco has won the Champions League four times and starred for his country Spain, if Arteta is able to get the best out of him, then the club would have a serious player on their hands, at a very low price.
