Arsenal are already looking ahead to the future and are opening their options up to replacing Alexis Sanchez in the summer with a fellow heavyweight signing.

According to a latest report from Sport Bild, the Gunners are prepared to make a move for Marco Reus despite his recurring problems with injury over the last few years.

The Borussia Dortmund man is continuing a rehabilitation programme to fix a ruptured cruciate ligament issue that’s been scathing him ever since May earlier this year, with a return date looking like 2018.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with the German over the last few transfer windows and when at his best is a player that can take the European stage by storm.

At his age it looks like Reus may have one more big switch before hanging up his boots, so next summer could be a chance to rebuild our squad around a player like him.

Fresh Arsenal understand that Arsenal are ready to let go of Alexis Sanchez and are already planning for life without the Chilean, who has two goals so far this season.

The summer signing of Alex Lacazette has provided a new life for our attack and I think the chance to play with him and Mesut Ozil is something that would appeal to any attacking midfielder.

Whether or not Reus has enough time to prove his fitness and worth when he returns from injury remains to be seen but there’s a lot of indication to suggest Arsenal will go big ahead of what looks to be Wenger’s final year in charge.
