After securing the services of Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal are preparing to launch a bid for one of their primary transfer targets.
According to an exclusive report from Mark Irwin at The Sun, it appears the Gunners will submit a £30m offer for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.
Despite interest from the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United, it appears Edu and co are confident of wrapping up a deal fairly quickly with all parties interested.
The 25-year-old is pushing for an exit and with just one year left on his contract has refused to sign an extension with Brendan Rogers side.
It’s been widely reported in the past that personal terms would be no issue whatsover and with Leicester looking to cash in rather than lose their midfielder on a free, it could be a cut price deal for Arsenal to nail.
Tielemans wants to be playing European football ahead of this winter’s World Cup and Arsenal are one of few clubs that are willing to offer him exactly that.
A Champions League side doesn’t look like a viable option with Chelsea searching in other areas and Tottenham recently securing the services of Yves Bissouma.
Irwin goes on to suggest that Tielemans is a transfer happening due to the fact Arsenal were priced out of a move for Ruben Neves, with Wolves asking for around £70m.
So in short, it appears like this could be a fast-moving transfer if Arsenal are ready to make their move and do it quickly, with just over 30 days until their opening Premier League game.
The Tielemans arrival would finalise Mikel Arteta’s midfield options with Granit Xhaka, Sambi Lokonga, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny for company.
