Report: Arsenal offered lifeline by Premier League club, £20m deal could happen

Bournemouth are currently in the market for a new striker following the unexpected departure of Dominic Solanke, who recently signed with Tottenham Hotspur.

Solanke, 26, was a crucial figure for Bournemouth, providing the attacking prowess that helped the club maintain its Premier League status. His exit has left a significant void in the Cherries’ front line, prompting the club to explore various options to fill the gap.

One of the most intriguing names on Bournemouth’s shortlist is reportedly Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah.

The 25-year-old forward is seemingly on the scrapheap with terms previously agreed with Marseille, before they opted to sign RC Lens forward Elye Wahi.

Arsenal were said to turn down a bid worth around £17million by Marseille, instead they want in excess of £20million. Bournemouth have £65million in the coffers from Solanke’s exit, so such an amount should not be difficult to reach.

Nketiah’s potential move to Bournemouth would be a logical step for both the player and the club. For Bournemouth, Nketiah offers a homegrown Premier League experienced option who is hungry for regular football. Nketiah’s work rate and ability to press defenders align well with the high-intensity approach that manager Andoni Iraola is known to prefer.

On Nketiah’s side, a switch to Bournemouth could provide the regular starting opportunities he has been craving. At Arsenal, he often found himself playing second fiddle and it doesn’t look like he will ever become a regular. A move to the south coast could be the perfect chance for him to establish himself and progress his career.

In the search to raise funds, Arsenal will hope Bournemouth do turn their interest into a bid, as other potential destinations seem to be dwindling.

As the transfer window continues to unfold, all eyes will be on Bournemouth to see if they move for Eddie. If they do, it could help Arsenal make one or two further signings.
