Report: Arsenal in ‘advanced talks’ to sign much-coveted midfielder to 5-year contract

Arsenal have a lot to do in the transfer window this summer and things have been really heating up this week.

The Gunners have lots of sales and signings to make, but they also need to ensure they retain their best talent.

One player who is at the top of the retain list is the breakout star of the season for Arsenal, Emile Smith Rowe.

The dynamic midfielder, who turns 21 next month, has been attracting interest from across Europe. He’s also attracted interest close to home with Aston Villa seeing a £25million bid rejected according to The Telegraph.

The Telegraph’s report goes on to say that Arsenal insist Smith Rowe is not for sale and that they are in advanced talks with the player over a new contract.

A new contract is certainly required for Smith Rowe, who has just two years remaining on his current deal.

Fabrizio Romano also said earlier this month that Arsenal were hopeful of concluding a new 5-year contract for Smith Rowe.

The Gunners will be keen to get his contract signed to enable the club to focus on signing new players in the coming weeks.

Arsenal are reportedly working deals for James Maddison and Ben White, in what could cost the club more than £100million.
