Report: Arsenal fail in player plus cash bid to sign new right-back

Arsenal have failed in a bid to sign a new right back, according to a reliable Spanish journalist.

Right-back is an area the club are desperately looking to strengthen in, and there is now just one day remaining to reach an agreement.

One of the many options on the market for Arsenal was Emerson Royal of Barcelona.

Arsenal appear to have attempted to sign the Brazilian full back, with Gerard Romero reporting tonight that the Gunners offered 10million euros plus Bellerin for his services.

This bid though was rejected according to Romero, who says Barcelona wanted 20million euros in addition to Bellerin.

Hector is thought to be keen on a move to Barcelona and he could still have an opening to join the Spanish club, with Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham reportedly agreeing a 30million euro fee for Emerson.

This will not impress Arsenal fans. Missing out on a new right-back due to not paying the asking price and now their arch rivals agreeing a deal to sign him.

According to transfermarkt, both Bellerin and Emerson have the same value, so Arsenal’s rejected bid does not appear unreasonable.
