Report: Arsenal agree personal terms and close in on shock £50m+ deal

Arsenal are making significant strides in their pursuit of German international Kai Havertz.

A source close to deal has confirmed to Fresh Arsenal that personal terms have been all but agreed upon, with the player set to earn close to £200,000 per week. The Gunners’ interest in Havertz comes after a season of inconsistent performances at Chelsea, who are now willing to entertain offers for the versatile German.

Kai Havertz, 24, joined Chelsea in a high-profile transfer worth £75million in 2020. At the time, the move was seen as a major coup for the Blues, as they secured one of the most highly-rated talents in European football. However, Havertz’s time in the Premier League hasn’t gone entirely to plan, with the player struggling to find consistent form and adapt to the physical demands of English football.

This downturn in performance, combined with Chelsea’s need to balance their books due to financial constraints, has opened the door for Arsenal to swoop in and potentially secure Havertz’s services at a much reduced rate from what Chelsea paid in 2020.

While the exact transfer fee is yet to be determined, it is expected that Arsenal will be able to negotiate a reduced price for the talented German, whose potential is obvious. A deal is ‘very close’ according to Angelo Mangiante [SkySport].

There’s no official confirmation of this but there is a feeling that if Arsenal table a bid in excess of £50million, it would be enough to tempt Chelsea. The amount paid upfront and in add ons will also play a crucial part in negotiations.

One of Havertz’s most enticing qualities is his versatility. Capable of playing in a range of positions, including midfield, striker, and on the wing, the 24-year-old would provide Arsenal with a dynamic and adaptable option. His technical skills, vision, and goal-scoring ability make him a potent threat in the final third, while his work rate and tactical intelligence ensure his effectiveness in a deeper midfield role as well.

With 35 caps for the German national team, Havertz has already proven his worth on the international stage. His experience and maturity at such a young age would add a valuable dimension to Arsenal’s squad, providing leadership and guidance to the club’s younger players.

Crucially Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the player and will be confident of extracting the players potential that he showed as a teenager for Bayer Leverkusen.

The imminent agreement of personal terms between Havertz and Arsenal signifies a significant step forward in this potential transfer. The Gunners are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season and view Havertz as a key piece in their rebuilding process. Manager Mikel Arteta has been vocal about his desire to bring in top-quality players, and Havertz’s arrival would certainly meet those expectations.

Arsenal are also set to sign Declan Rice in a deal worth around £100million.

It’s going to be a busy summer at The Emirates.
