Report: ‘Advanced talks’ have taken place for Arsenal to complete record-breaking deal before deadline

Arsenal have found ‘some agreements’ with Brighton over the transfer of Moises Caicedo according to a Ecuardorian source, despite public claims from Brighton that the player is not for sale.

Arsenal have already had two bids instantly rejected by Brighton, but as tomorrow’s deadline looms, there appears to be hope that a deal could be reached between the two clubs.

Arsenal’s offers of £60million and £70million have both been swiftly knocked back by Brighton – but a third bid may prove decisive.

That is according to Ecuadorian source TERADEPORTES, who report:

“There have been talks between Brighton and Arsenal today, which are well advanced, the transfer  value is the most complicated but there are agreements and they could reach a decision very soon.”

This provides hope for Arsenal that despite public perception that there is no deal to be made here, it could well be on. Brighton left Caicedo out of their squad at the weekend when they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup.

Although he is only 21, Caicedo already has 28 caps for his country Ecuador. This highlights how highly thought of he is in his country. This would be a signing that’s for both the now and the future.

Caicedo has played as a deep midfielder and also further forward in his career, so he would give Arsenal options in midfield and reduce reliance on Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.

After £70million was rejected, any bid now would have to break the clubs £72million record-transfer fee.
