Report: 3 medicals booked as Arsenal ramp up activity on deadline day

Arsenal are set to have a busy deadline day today, with three deals on the verge of completion and even more could occur as the day progresses.

The first that could be announced is the departure of Hector Bellerin. We brought you the news very early this morning that the Spaniard is set to join Real Betis.

26-year-old Bellerin has been desperate to leave Arsenal this summer and it seems as though he will get his wish on deadline day – with a medical reportedly taking place as we speak.

That opens the door for Arsenal to make a new signing at right-back. The name that has emerged this morning is Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Bologna defender is a highly-rated 6ft 2’ player, capable of playing at both central defence and right back.

According to The Telegraph, this deal has moved very quickly this morning and Arsenal are flying out a club doctor to Italy in order to ensure a medical is completed in time. The clubs are said to be ‘very close’ to agreeing on a fee.

Elsewhere, another player set to leave the club on loan is Reiss Nelson. According to the reliable report Fabrizio Romano, Nelson is having a medical with Feyenoord as we speak (well as I type).

Nelson will extend his contract until 2023 with Arsenal before going out on loan. Hopefully, Reiss can rediscover some form and value with regular minutes this season.

We are still not clear on the futures of Eddie Nketiah, Alexandre Lacazette, Alex Runarsson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Arsenal are thought to be open to offers to all four, so let’s see how the day progresses.
