Premier League club want to sign Arsenal midfielder permanently, Gunners keen to offload

Arsenal have made significant investments this summer and they now need to make some sales. One could be on the horizon with a Premier League club interested in getting a deal done.

It’s been quiet in terms of sales so far for Arsenal, given the amount they need to offload. But things could be set to get moving for Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, with The Sun reporting earlier this week that Burnley are prepping an offer and they would like to sign him permanently. Burnley boss Vincent Kompany knows the player well having managed him at Anderlecht.

Speaking in a recent interview on YouTube, Lokonga hinted that he could be on the move again this summer:

“I don’t know, I will try to go somewhere I will play,” Lokonga said of his plans for next season. “That’s the most important thing, to have some games and play game after game.”

Lokonga has been left out of Arsenal’s tour of the US Tour, the clearest indication yet that he will not still be at Arsenal next season.

It’s quite sad to see considering it was on this tour last year where Lokonga was seemingly excelling in a new role, the role Granit Xhaka then thrived in last season.

But at this point it seems clear Mikel Arteta is no longer interested in re-integrating Lokonga and if Burnley are able to offer Arsenal their money back, you’d expect this deal to be done.

Lokonga’s departure could open the door to another arrival at Arsenal, with the club seemingly interested in signing Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.

The Gunners have a good relationship with the Dutch club after smoothly completing a deal for Jurrien Timber earlier this month. Kudus is able to play in a number of roles across midfield and would help provide competition and depth.
