Player ratings: West Ham 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal took a big step towards their first Premier League title in over 20 years with a heart pumping 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Last week I wrote about how the Fulham win was heart-rate reducing, well this West Ham game was the opposite, especially the last 10 minutes.

It looked like Arsenal had lost the game when time stood still and Matheus Fernandes was one on one with the goal at his mercy, 12 minutes from time. David Raya made a huge save and Leandro Trossard scored the winner 5 minutes later. It looked like Callum Wilson had equalised, but VAR rightfully intervened to rule the goal out and Arsenal clung on. A huge three points and Arsenal need to win two more games to win the league.

Here’s how I rated the players:

David Raya – 10

Ben White – N/A – Martin Zubimendi – 5, Cristhian Mosquera – 6

William Saliba – 9

Gabriel – 9

Riccardo Calafiori – 7

Declan Rice – 7

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 7

Bukayo Saka – 5

Ebere Eze – 5

Leandro Trossard – 9

Viktor Gyokeres – 6

Man of the match: David Raya. If we get over the line in one or both of these competitions, David Raya’s contributions would be statue worthy. He has been truly immense for us and especially in recent weeks, when the attack has been far from flowing, Raya has won us games and potentially a major trophy. Sublime.
