Francis Coquelin has re-invented himself at Arsenal and looks like he is good enough to start on a regular basis in defensive midfield, after a string of top quality performances from him.

Below are the fans player ratings from what was a vital win for Arsenal. You can rate the Arsenal team yourself here

David Ospina: 6.8/10 – The Colombian goalkeeper was largely untested, and that is a credit to the Arsenal defence and midfield, but for what he did have to do, he looked assured and confident with. Three clean sheets in a row now for him, it will be hard for Szczesny to take his place back.

Hector Bellerin: 7.9/10 – What a performance from the teenager. Created in Barcelona, developed in Arsenal. Bellerin has a huge career ahead of him, and already doesn’t look out of place starting for us.

Per Mertesacker: 7.4/10 – Mertesacker played like a captain today. He was organising his teammates throughout and helped the Gunners to a clean sheet, something almost nobody expected before kick off.

Laurent Koscielny: 7.5/10 – Like Mertesacker, we was confident and professional in his defending. He had Aguero in his pocket all game and made several key interceptions and clearances throughout the 90 minutes.

Nacho Monreal: 8.0/10 – Our most consistent defender this season was once again, consistently good. The hosts tried to target him with Navas’ pace, but Monreal handled any threat with ease.

Francis Coquelin: 8.6/10 – An excellent display from Coquelin. He has been a revelation and it would a great decision for Wenger to put faith in the 23 year old. He should now be a regular for the rest of the season.

Aaron Ramsey (off 84): 6.6/10 – A great energetic performance, but his passing was off, especially in the second half. He came off with 5 minutes to go, but it truth, he could have done with being removed earlier as he was visibly tired after returning from a long term injury.

Santi Cazorla: 9.5/10 – Arsenal’s stand-out performer over the last few games continued to be excellent. A goal and assist from the Spaniard saw him become the stand out performer and outshine the likes of David Silva and Alexis Sanchez.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (off 66): 6.9/10 – He has really matured this season and his performances are becoming more consistent. He was replaced after 66 minutes, but offered good energy when he was on the pitch.

Alexis Sanchez (off 84): 7.1/10 – He wasn’t at his best today, but he didn’t have to be. Alexis still did very well defensively, and that’s the beauty of the Chilean. If we need him to play as a defensive winger, as was the case for the second half – he can do that.

Olivier Giroud: 8.0/10 – Scored the crucial second goal and held up the ball really well throughout the 90 minutes. It’s great to have him back fit and firing on all cylinders.

Subs:

Tomas Rosicky (on 66): 7.0/10 – Rosicky was a great player to bring on off the bench as he helped keep the ball and offer more energy in the centre.

Mathieu Flamini (on 84): 5.4/10

Kieran Gibbs (on 84): 5.8/10
