Player Ratings: Everton 2 – Arsenal 2

Wojciech Szczęsny – 5

Passing was good, but should have done better for the two goals.

Mathieu Debuchy – 6

Was caught out of position a few times, and hoofed the ball up the pitch far too often. However, his work rate was commendable, and he tried his best to push up the pitch late on in the game.

Calum Chambers – 5

Panicked and unorganised – Chambers’ performance was very different from his previous displays in an Arsenal shirt. His rushed tackle on Lukaku cost Arsenal a goal, and he frequently left us exposed in the first half. Improved in the second half.

Per Mertesacker – 6

The German clearly wasn’t 100% fit, but he gave everything he had in order to prevent Everton scoring a third goal. Made some vital challenges late in the game.

Nacho Monreal – 8

One of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt. Wasn’t comfortable defensively in the first half, but his attacking display in the second won Arsenal the match. Linked up with Özil well and provided an assist for Giroud.

Mathieu Flamini – 6

Competent in defence and started off Arsenal’s attacks in the second half.

Jack Wilshere – 4

Kept giving away the ball in and around the box. His passing was off and he picked up a yellow card for a reckless tackle. Needs to improve.

Aaron Ramsey – 5

Scored Arsenal’s first goal from a tap in, but he was poor for the majority of the match. His passing was below par and his shots were off target.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6

Showed great energy and commitment, but kept forfeiting possession from silly long-ranged shots.

Mesut Özil – 7

Showed real quality throughout the game with some slick passing and intelligent movement. Was vital in Arsenal’s comeback.

Alexis Sanchez – 6

Was energetic and controlled the ball well, but his passing was poor yet again. Looked lost up front.

Subs:

Olivier Giroud – 8 – Man of the Match

Scored our second goal and was outstanding after replacing Sanchez. His passing was crisp and he created a few chances. Had a few shots at goal too.

Santi Cazorla – 7

Helped starting off our attacks and put a lot of pressure on Everton in the closing moments of the game. Provided the assist for Ramsey’s goal.

Joel Campbell – 4

Couldn’t control the ball. Made one good cross late in the second half.
