Arsenal made light work of Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon with an emphatic 5-0 win at the Emirates. It was the Gunners biggest Premier League win in over 2 years. Below find my player ratings, you can rate the players yourselves here.
David Opsina – 8
Had nothing to do for most of the game, but made two world-class saves to maintain Arsenal’s clean sheet. Looked strong in the air, too. Has to stay in goal next game.
Héctor BellerÃn – 10 – Joint Man of the Match
Produced one of the best performances I’ve seen from an Arsenal right-back in years. Flawless defensively and outstanding in attack, Héctor scored his first goal for Arsenal today from a fantastic long range shot.
Per Mertesacker – 8
Didn’t have much to do, but dealt with everything Villa threw at him.
Lauren Koscielny – 8
Like Per, he had nothing to do for most of the game, but dealt with everything that was thrown at him.
Nacho Monreal – 9
Another fantastic performance from the Spaniard. Dealt with everything at the back and looked extremely dangerous going forward.
Francis Coquelin – 8
His defensive contribution was perfect, but he was unable to dictate the play as well Arteta is able to. Needs to improve on his range of passing.
Aaron Ramsey – 7 (Replaced by Flamini in the 77th minute)
Produced some world-class passes and touches but is still trying to force our attacks a little bit.
Santi Cazorla – 9
Excellent yet again. Made two assists and scored from a penalty. His passing and link-up play was outstanding yet again.
Mesut Özil – 10 – Joint Man of the Match
Produced one of the best assists you’ll see all season and scored with a lovely little finish in the second half. His passing and link-up play were world-class, and he appeared to be much stronger when battling with the opposition players.
Theo Walcott – 6 (Replaced by Rosicky in the 70th minute)
Had a very poor first half, but scored from a typical Walcott finish in the second. Lacked sharpness, but this will improve as he gets more games.
Â
Olivier Giroud – 8 (Replaced by Akpom in the 70th minute)
Scored using a delightful chip and assisted Özil’s goal. Held up the ball well.

Â
Tomas Rosicky – 6
Came on for Ramsey and made some nice passes and touches late in the game.
Â
Chuba Akpom – 7
Replaced Giroud in the 70th minute. Looked extremely sharp, and was unlucky not to score two goals after having a shot and a header saved by the keeper. Won the penalty scored by Cazorla.
Â
Mathieu Flamini – 6
Demonstrated his excellent range of passing and intelligent positioning. Helped build Arsenal’s attacks late in the game.
