According to the latest update from Team News & Tix, the signing of Youri Tielemans is edging closer after his agent piled pressure on Leicester City to lower their demands.

The comment states that Tielemans’ agent is pressuring City to lower their transfer valuation and it appears a desired price is getting closer and closer.

The update comes from an account that was first for the Omari Hutchinson news earlier this year, suggesting that this could be a genuinely positive sign for the Gunners.

The news comes as a reaction to an earlier report from The Telegraph’s John Percy, who has stated that Arsenal are still very much going after the 25-year-old.

According to Percy, the Belgian midfielder would be reluctant to sign any sort of contract extension regardless of what happens this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is believed to have already admitted defeat on the player who featured 32 times in the Premier League last season as a regular for Leicester’s defensive midfield.

As he enters the final year of his contract, there have been more then enough reports to confirm that Tielemans wants the move to Arsenal, who can offer him European football.

Mikel Arteta is the driving force behind the deal as he looks for a player to cover the midfield and partner Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey as significant back-up.

Arsenal were active for a player in a similar role back in January when trying to secure a short-term move for Juventus’ Arthur Melo.

That tells us two things, that the position is still vacant on the shopping list and Arteta is expected to have a big clearout of players fighting for the role.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Lucas Torreira are both expected to find new clubs this summer but departures are likely to go down to the wire as rivals go shopping in the bargain bin.
