Arsene Wenger made a huge call ahead of Arsenal’s Europa League opener by resting seven key first team players in the squad’s final training session.

The Gunners will kick off in the group stages of the competition for the first time in 17 years, but will be without Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil after Wenger ruled them out completely.

Also missing from London Colney was Petr Cech, Danny Welbeck, Alex Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny who will all be left out of the squad as they eye up the trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

That means Wenger will throw a number of youngsters back into the squad after impressing during pre-season, meaning we’ll get a chance to see Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah back in the first team.

The duo joined players like Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott who are both in line to make their first Arsenal start of the campaign after struggling to shrug off some of the competition.
