Ox Starts! 2 Changes: How Arsenal Should Line Up vs. Southampton

Arsenal are struggling with a number of injuries in key positions ahead of tomorrow nights mouth-watering clash against Southampton. The Saints, who have already won at the Emirates this term, will be looking to respond after their defeat on the weekend. The Gunners meanwhile, are looking to build on two consecutive wins as they try to catch Southampton and propel themselves up the Premiership table.

In goal, Damain Martinez will retain his starting position. The young stopper hasn’t looked out-of-place in the Arsenal side of late, and will continue to deputise for Wojciech Szczesny, who looks set to be out for another few days.

At right-back will be Calum Chambers. Apart from a disappointing display at Swansea the youngster has been one of Arsenal’s shining lights this season. At centre-back I’d like to see Mertesacker partner Koscielny once more, although doubts would remain over the Frenchman after his recent injury scare. At left-back ideally it would be Gibbs starting, however both himself and Monreal are struggling for fitness, so Flamini or Bellerin may have to deputise there.

In holding midfield Arsenal aren’t currently blessed with options, so it’s probable Ramsey and Flamini will retain their places in these positions. Cazorla has been in excellent form over the last few games and will play in the hole again.

In the forward three I’d like to see Chamberlain, Welbeck and Sanchez. Giroud still isn’t fully match fit and I feel Chamberlain can provide more of a threat in this type of game. Chamberlain himself faces fitness doubts, but if he can overcome his injury it would be nice to see him start.

My team to face the Saints: Martinez, Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs/Monreal (if fit), Flamini, Ramsey, Cazorla, Chamberlain (Giroud in his place if he’s unfit), Welbeck and Sanchez.

Whatever the starting XI the Gunners are going to have to put in a strong showing to overcome Koeman’s men.

What would your starting XI be tomorrow night?
