Opinion: Arteta has proved the doubters wrong and got these major off the field decisions right

Mikel Arteta has earned mixed reviews in his first year as Arsenal manager.

As 2020 was petering out, the Spaniard looked out of ideas and the team were perhaps at their lowest point in recent memory. But since the Chelsea game on the eve of 2021, Arteta and Arsenal appear to have turned a corner. Although a frustrating 1-1 draw with Burnley recently highlighted the deficiencies in this squad, Arsenal have become much more dominant and improved on their results. But why?

Speaking on the latest Fresh Arsenal podcast, Oli Price-Bates suggested that Arteta’s decisions to ship out Matteo Guendouzi, Mesut Ozil and others have been justified.

Matteo Guendouzi was loaned out last summer and Arsenal look set to sell him in the coming window. Guendouzi has continued to have a troubling attitude, concerning coaches on loan at Hertha Berlin, who sit fourth bottom in the Bundesliga.
