The 19-year-old was unveiled by the North East side earlier today ahead of his season long loan, where he joins Arsenal owned Isaac Hayden following the 20-year-old’s loan move to the KC Stadium last month.

Akpom, who featured in the Emirates Cup success and scored a hat-trick against Singapore in pre-season, has previously spent time on-loan with Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest but is yet to score in 21 league appearances.

Speaking upon is unveiling with the Tigers, he signalled his intention to help the club secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

“I’m really happy to be here and I’m looking forward to helping the team push for promotion.”

“Hopefully we can be successful and I can help with that. We’re going to be one of the stronger teams in the Championship.”

He has featured for Arsenal’s first-team but was unlikely to experience many opportunities this season, as he faced competition from Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott for the central position.

His departure may raise speculation regarding imminent incoming deals, as Giroud is not left as the club’s only recognised centre-forward, with Walcott spending the majority of his career out wide.
