Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of signing a forward this summer, after making enquires on Munir El Haddadi.
Both Arsenal and their title rivals Chelsea have been rumoured with a move for the Barcelona forward, however Spanish newspaper, Marca, are claiming that the Gunners are at a more advanced stage.
The 19-year-old fits in with the criteria Arsene Wenger has always looked for, with the forward being another impressive production from their youth academy.
The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin have both been huge success stories from their youth section, and the youngster could be available for as little as £8million.
The last few campaigns have been tough for the Spaniard, who has had to deal with the competition of Messi, Suarez and Neymar to even stand a chance of starting a game.
Last season Munir, who can also play on either of the wings, made just seven starting appearances and that was only due to the absence of the banned Luis Suarez.
And that frustration could be the key to switching to the Emirates this summer, where Wenger can offer more reasonable competition at a club who can cater for his wages at the same time.
The likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema have circled the media frenzy since the Premier League campaign ended, and signing Munir would be another investment in youth rather than going big for the experienced winners.
This news comes following the departure of Lukas Podolski, who was in the running as a back-up forward player, a place that is now ready to be filled.
Arsenal have been heavily interested in Barcelona winger Pedro, but he recently signed a new deal at the club. Wenger may now be trying to take advantage and sign Munir, as he now has Pedro, Suarez, Messi and Neymar to displace for a place in the front three.
