After his controversial free transfer last season from AC. Milan, the Arsenal faithful were cheering his name consistently throughout the beginning of the season as his passion and desire was something Arsenal fans missed. Accounted as Wenger’s idea of our ‘powerful defensive midfielder’, the 30 year old Frenchman has had to play against the constant moaning of Arsenal fans crying out for his replacement. Now as hard as this may be, he’s really not impressed this season. It’s evident that Flamini is not the player he once was, shown through him diving into tackles, being positionally unaware of his surroundings and failing to deliver physically. His two mistakes that led to two Manchester City goals at home didn’t do his confidence any justice, and despite being fouled on the weekend by Momo Diame, he should have just sent the ball out of play. His attitude is right, but his performances haven’t quite justified that. He didn’t have a bad game at Stamford Bridge however, and us Gooners can only hope he performs at that level each week.
