Not Aurier. Three Right-Backs Who Could Join Arsenal This Summer

With Bacary Sagna seemingly on his way to moneybags Manchester City, for a ridiculous weekly wage, Arsenal are in the market for a right-back as Carl Jenkinson isn’t ready for the full responsibility of first-team football every week. The main contender as a new arrival in North London is Toulouse defender Serge Aurier- widely tipped as one of the best emerging talents in French football.

However, as the Ivorian is jetting off to the World Cup there is every possibility that another club may come swooping. Until the contract is signed, nothing is definite and therefore, Arsenal need to continue to scour out possible replacements just in case their pursuit of Aurier is unsuccessful. Here’s three potential replacements.

1. Seamus Coleman

The Irish defender is one of the best young defenders in the Premier League and has been a key-part of his Everton side’s progression this season. Coleman has earned plenty of plaudits throughout the season and may now be tempted by a move to a bigger club, that can offer Champions League football and the ability to compete for titles.

Arsenal’s securing of a place in Europe’s elite competition is essential to attracting top players, while the FA Cup signalled a new dawn in Highbury and Islington that ended years of pain, disappointment and suffering. With a young developing squad, superbly crafted with a touch of experience, Arsenal are ready to get back to where they belong and Coleman could be presented with the opportunity to be a part of the Gunners resurgence.

The benefit of Coleman is that he is already experienced in Premier League football and will settle far quicker than an arrival from abroad, though he is likely to command a heavy fee in order to grab him away from Everton’s clutches.
