Not Alexis: This Key Man Will Miss Manchester United vs. Arsenal Game

Arsenal fans were sent an early scare just moments into the international break, but things may have levelled out ahead of the Manchester United clash.

News broke out on Tuesday afternoon that Alexis Sanchez had suffered a torn calf muscle during training with Chile, something that made Gunners fans hit the panic button.

Whilst the extent of that injury is still not known, conflicting reports suggest it could be six days or six weeks out for the 27-year-old, who has already bagged eight goals in all competitions.

So Arsenal might be without their season top goalscorer when they travel to a struggling Manchester United side, however things could have got a little better.

After picking up a fifth yellow card of the season during the victory over Swansea, United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will officially miss the game through a one-game suspension.

He joins the likes of Antonio Valencia and Eric Bailly as big names that are missing from Jose Mourinho’s starting XI options, meaning attention will turn to familiar faces to step up.

Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will compete for the number nine position when the two sides meet on November 19th, but Ibrahimovic will be a huge loss.

His presence alone is enough to help United win games, and Arsene Wenger will be happy the 35-year-old won’t feature knowing of his ability in big games.

This game will have enough bite to it considering it’s Mourinho on the sidelines, these managers share a famous rivalry that stretches back to the early days of his Chelsea career.
