Arsenal currently find themselves in 8th place in the Premiership, nine points off the league leaders Chelsea. It’s fair to say their season isn’t going the way they’d like it to. This is surely down to the personnel, but who isn’t good enough to play for Arsenal?
Here are four players Wenger needs to move on in order to free up money to bring in more quality:
1. Mathieu Flamini
The 30 year old Frenchman who returned for a second stint with the Gunners, sadly isn’t the player he used to be. He just simple doesn’t have the legs to be able to carry out the work load needed of someone in his position.
If Arsenal continue to play this new 4-1-4-1/4-5-1 formation, which gave the now injured Mesut Ozil the capacity to play a free role, then they need a dynamic holding midfielder. They need someone who can offer more protection for the Arsenal defence and be a real presence in games.
We know Wenger loves to have experience and the fact he could bring the Frenchman in on a free was a huge plus for him. Flamini is also arguably Arsenals best on pitch leader, always barking orders to his team, but this isn’t enough to justify his spot in the team.
