After picking up his 14th and 15th assists during Monday nights clash against Manchester City, the 27-year-old stated he’s in no rush to sign a new contract.

However, the German international went on to outline just how much he is enjoying his time at the Gunners, stating he was right to leave Real Madrid in 2013.

Whilst talking to Kicker earlier on in the week, Ozil suggested that his intent is to stay with Arsene Wenger’s side in the long-run, but there is no need to extend a deal just yet.

There is no rush to sign a new contract. My current deal runs out in 2018, that is still two and a half years. There are no talks at the moment.

I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.

There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I have been injured, that I do not feel great here.

As he mentioned in the interview, Ozil’s deal runs out in 2018 and it makes sense for the Arsenal star to leave talks for now, a lot can change in two seasons.

The midfielder sensation has acted as an integral part of the Gunners Premier League campaign so far, achieving 15 assists in just 17 games.

He is now just five assists away from equalling Thierry Henry’s all-time Premier League record of 20, and Ozil has 21 games to do it.

Rumours of him signing a new deal will ultimately continue to pop up in the media over the next few weeks whilst he carries on his incredible form.
