Arsene Wenger has already suggested he’s in the running for a new name, and Inter Milan’s Brozovic is the latest to be connected with the Gunners.

Following an article in Corriere Dello Sport, its understood that the central midfielder will be available for just £11.9m, but that figure could rise with other clubs interested.

Arsenal were interested in Brozovic when at Dinamo Zagreb, before he joined Inter Milan permanently in the summer.

After losing both Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin at the heart of their midfield, it seemed Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League were in tatters.

However, following the uprising of Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini the Gunners ship has began to settle, but Arsene Wenger still needs reinforcements.

With a major fixture pile-up over Christmas and the return dates of Cazorla and Coquelin looking to be at mid-March at the earliest, central midfield is looking frail.

That’s where Brozovic steps up and the 23-year-old could be a vital cog in the machine for the Gunners season, with a loan option also on the cards like Kim Kallstrom in 2013/14.

The Croatian international has made an impact at Inter Milan whilst on loan from Dinamo Zagreb, making 27 appearances and scoring three goals in the process.

However, with the returns of Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta on the cards over the next few weeks, it remains to be seen as to whether Wenger will add another name to the team-sheet.

A rise in appearances from Calum Chambers is also an option, but when coming on for 10 minute spells the youngster has looked uncomfortable in the holding slot.

The January transfer window opens up in just nine days and the Gunners have two festive games to cope with before they even think about opening up the cheque book.
