Khedira, Carvalho or Gustavo – Which Should Arsenal Sign?

Luiz Gustavo

Luiz Gustavo Dias, 27, is a Brazilian international who currently plays for Bundesliga club Vfl Wolfsburg. Gustavo started his professional career with Corinthians Alagoano in 2007; he was loaned out to CRB in the latter part of the season before being loaned to 1899 Hoffenheim in the 2008-09 season. He subsequently transferred to them for the following three seasons. In January 2011 Gustavo was signed by Bayern Munich. In August 2013 he transferred to Wolfsburg for an undisposed fee and is under contract to them until 2018.

Gustavo has earned 25 caps with his native Brazil since 2011.

Gustavo’s key strengths lay in his passing, where he prefers to play long balls, and his tackling abilities. However, the latter does tend to lead to fouls being committed which turns that particular strength into one of weakness.

Personally, I think with the signings of Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy during the summer transfer window, any money spent on more defenders could be put to better use i.e. improving our striking capabilities. Do you agree?
