William Carvalho
William Silva de Carvalho, 22, is a Portuguese international who played for Sporting CP, in both the youth (2005-11) and senior teams. After making his debut for the senior team in April 2011 Carvalho was loaned out to C.D. Fátima for six months. He was on loan for almost two years to Cercle Brugge K.S.V. who play in the Belgian Pro League but has now become a regular player in the first team of Sporting CP.
Of Angolan descent, Carvalho was eligible to play for both Angola and Portugal national teams but chose the latter. Carvalho has earned 61 caps for Portugal, 10 of which are with the senior team. Not a bad statistic for a player so young.
Carvalho’s strengths are in both his tackling and passing, though on the latter he does tend to “play it safe”, as well as being able to keep his composure when under pressure.
