After Securing the The Hottest Man in English Football award, Giroud had more to celebrate about as he scored a brace in the first half to see off Middlesbrough as The Arsenal march on into the Quarter Finals. 2 in 2 in this competition, it’s now 10 goals in 18 this season. Giroud finished with a WhoScored Rating of 8.98
The French striker gave fans a reason why a new striker isn’t needed with a fine display in 82 minutes before he was subbed off Chuba Akpom. Posing as the lone targetman upfront he had 6 shots on goal, 4 on target and of course, 2 in back of the net against Meijas, a keeper who actually had a more than decent game. His goals coming in quick succession (27′ & 29′). Shoutout to Kieran Gibbs, was solid. His first goal included every player in the side, passing game on fleek.
It really should have been more than just the two, his only key pass in the game had potential when he attempted to play through Danny Welbeck, too much on it. Besides that he made 31 passes with an accuracy of 80.7%, quite the improvement on his league average of just 65%.
He won 2 aerial duels and won just the 1 free-kick. Did a bit of a shift, 1 of each in Interceptions, Clearances and Tackles. Total of 44 touches.
