Jack Wilshere To Make His First Arsenal Appearance Since August 2016

Arsenal are set to offer Jack Wilshere a way back into first-team football this evening as the midfielder gets one step closer to returning from injury.

The 25-year-old is set to feature in this evening’s Under 23’s game against Derby U23’s as he continues his rehabilitation from a leg fracture suffered towards the end of last season.

Wilshere is certainly a player that divides opinion with the Arsenal supporters, with many calling for Wenger to sell the central midfielder as he’s been unable to prove his fitness.

Others believe the Englishman is just what we’ll need this season and after making 29 appearances last season, many of which whilst on loan at Bournemouth, can compete with Aaron Ramsey for a regular spot.

The fact is we haven’t seen Wilshere feature in a Gunners jersey since August 27th 2016, where we managed to pick up a comfortable 3-1 win over Watford.

Just a couple of days later, Wilshere completed his switch to Eddie Howe’s side following the signings of Granit Xhaka and Lucas Perez, who were expected to feature regularly in midfield.

The biggest question now being asked is whether or not Wilshere has a future at Arsenal, and I think Wenger needs to make a tactical decision, rather than sentimental.

In a perfect world he’d stay injury free and I really do consider him to be just as important as Mesut Ozil, so if he does pack his bags for good it’ll be a sad day for the club.

However, that could make room for the likes of Michael Jean Seri or Thomas Lemar, two players Wenger has remained coy on when talking about over the summer.

Time will tell and I guess we’ll just have to see how Wilshere performs this evening! Follow reaction from Wilshere’s return on our Twitter and Facebook pages!
