Huge Blow For Arsenal As Wenger Hints Key Midfielder Won’t Be Back Until March

Arsene Wenger says he does not know when Jack Wilshere will return, but his hints worryingly indicate it might not be until March, or later.

There had been hope that the 23 year old would be the next Arsenal player to return, with tonight’s game against Bournemouth even mentioned as a target for the player to feature in. But it seems his return is a long way off.

“I said February but honestly I don’t know,” the Arsenal boss said.

“I let him do his recovery. It’s going slowly. Once he goes again, goes outside to train, once he is back again into sharp, hard work physically, you count five or six weeks, so at the moment he is not there yet.”

It is thought that this confusion has led to Arsenal’s interest in Mohamed Elneny, who is set to complete a £5million move to Arsenal this week. On additions Wenger added: ”Yes, we are a bit short – I agree with you because of the injuries we have,”

”But sometimes as well the solution is inside and you have to accept that because we are a club which has always given a chance to players we have educated. People forget that sometimes and always want new faces. But we are a club with a tradition on that front as well and we have top players inside.”

Arsenal have been trying to educate Calum Chambers in a defensive midfield role, but when the Englishman has featured there, he has so far failed to convince. It is thought the 20 year old may start against Bournemouth in this evenings fixture.
