The Star are at it again with their wild headlines that bare minimal correlation to the rest of the article and almost none to the actual facts. To their credit, they have some quotes in this story. Howedes hints that he wants to join a club in England and Arsenal have previously been linked with interest in the German. Manchester United, though looks like a more probably destination this summer as they are actively looking for players to improve their defence. Don’t rule Arsenal out completely though, as Arsene Wenger has said he will buy players based on quality not position. Howedes is a quality international defender who would certainly add quality to The Gunners defence.

Petr Cech is set to decide on his future after an international fixture on June 12. In the days after this game he is expected to announce where he will play next season, as Arsenal and Manchester United are both ready to pay the £10million asking price. Cech is keen to stay in London and the Chelsea hierachy have decided they will not stop him from joining a league rival. Cech would be a quality signing and significantly boost the clubs chances of silverware next season.
Galatasaray no longer interested in Lukas Podolski (London Evening Standard)

Galatasaray are no longer interested in Lukas Podolski. The club have officially confirmed that the German forward was on their radar in the winter, but is no longer an option. I wonder if that is because of his terrible form at Inter Milan. Poldi’s loan spell in Italy did damage to the Gunners hopes of finding a buyer for him this summer. Although not actively admitting it, Wenger is looking to sell Podolski due to his large wages and limited contribution that he can offer the squad. I’m sure Podolski wants to play, but he loves Arsenal and he won’t want to take a pay cut, as it looks like he will have to do.
