2 – Mathieu Debuchy to Aston Villa
The French defender has all but confirmed his exit from the Emirates and it is now just a matter of time before his move is sealed. Although he has been linked with AS Roma and West Brom, it looks like Villa will be the Frenchman’s new club.
Arsenal are right to let Debuchy leave if he is not happy, the Frenchman is not willing to fight for his place in the first team, so he shouldn’t be included in a title-chasing squad.
It is not clear yet as to whether Debuchy’s deal would be temporary (with a £1.2million loan fee) or permanent. It is likely that Remi Garde will push for a loan deal with an option to make it permanent. The deal makes sense for the player too, who will want to be playing every week to give him a greater chance of being included in the France national team for this summers European Championships.
