During an interview on the Ligue 1 show before Arsenal’s huge game against Chelsea this weekend, the Gunners boss spoke highly of Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.

As well as echoing the same talents of Arsenal’s top goalscorer, Mbappe is one of the most promising young talents coming through the ranks in France’s top division.

Wenger confirmed that Arsenal were following the striker, who has six goals and seven assists in 19 games so far this season, as well as breaking a very important record.

At just 17 years old, Mbappe went and broke Henry’s record at Monaco to become the club’s youngest ever goalscorer, catching the attention of Europe’s heavyweight.

Yes, we follow him and we know him very well and he is developing well.

He extended his contract last season so it’s Monaco who will decide about his future.

Mbappe is not exactly Thierry Henry but it’s true that he has similar qualities. He’s electric, like Thierry was. He can dribble, get past people and is efficient.

It’s not often that Wenger openly states his admiration for a player, so this is quite interesting so hear, and it definitely opens up the door to a future move.

Having just turned 18, Mbappe is now getting good chances in the first team and it’s important for his development to ensure he sticks with a routine.

Whether or not we even need a striker at the moment is another point, with Akpom, Lucas and Welbeck all struggling to get chances in the Premier League.
