Five Arsenal Players To Watch This Season

2. Theo Walcott

Theo Walcott has been sorely missed by fans and specifically the Arsenal team. His pace offers something different when Podolski and Cazorla are having slight off-days. A man who injured himself during a 2-0 FA Cup win over Tottenham in early January, has left a hole down the right hand side, where the pace has been truly missed and lacking. Since joining as a seventeen year-old from Southampton in 2006, Theo has made 194 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 45 goals. Walcott had an injury-hit campaign last season but is looking to recapture form which has seen stars such as Lionel Messi say ‘he is the most dangerous player I’ve ever played against.’ Theo has seen many stars come and go but has always had the Arsenal feel, and I’m sure a contributing factor was of Arsène Wenger. But after such a injury-hit season, I’m sure Theo Walcott will relish the chance of playing alongside the likes of Alexis Sánchez and Mesut Özil. His integral pace, goalscoring ability and all-round presence will bring some much back to this Arsenal team, which was missing last season. His stats prove why he is such a critical asset to this Arsenal side, scoring six, including two away at Manchester City and West Ham respectively, and making four in just ten appearances last season. He also completed 1.6 key passes, completed 1.5 crosses and had an average pass succession rate of 81.8%. The only downside is, will he able to stay fit for the whole duration of the campaign to keep Arsenal fighting for the title?
