The Poland international is another man who has found game-time at Arsenal hard to come by since January, despite being the club’s the no. 1 goalkeeper for last few seasons. He’s seen his position between the sticks occupied by his Columbian rival David Ospina in recent months.

Szczesny was the point of discussion after the 2-0 defeat to Southampton at St. Mary’s on New Years Day, after two horrendous goalkeeping mistakes which lead to the opposition’s winning goals.

Many called for the 24-year old’s head after that performance and hasn’t started a Premier League game since. His last appearance was the FA Cup quarter-final victory away to Manchester United, where he performed like a man low on confidence.

Poland will face the Republic of Ireland for their European qualifying match on Sunday, and he like Theo Walcott, will be out to impress for his country during this single occasion, to provide the Arsenal boss with something to think about when they return next weekend.
