According to the Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats have made a £2million loan offer and have agreed to pay the wages of Jenkinson’s contract during the 2015/16 season.

Sunderland have reportedly been scouting the England Under-21 international over recent seasons, and now Dick Advocaat is ready to make a move after his side finished in a disappointing 16th place.

After losing Anthony Riveillere, the Sunderland manager has just two players that can cover the full-back positions; Billy Jones and Patrick van Aanholt, and therefore is ready to bolster on players with Premier League experience.

Arsene Wenger initially let Jenkinson move away from the Emirates last summer to gain vital first team experience, after capturing both Callum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy to cover the full-back position.

Jenkinson will return to the Emirates on July 1st when his loan contract officially runs out at West Ham, and the boss is ready to offload the 23-year-old.

However, the defender has enjoyed an impressive spell at the Hammers this season, making 29 Premier League appearances and cementing a regular starting place.

And following that spell, Jenkinson could be looking to get out whilst he’s in the spotlight, with a number of clubs looking to get their hands on him.

The Gunners could be willing to let go of the right-back on a permanent basis this transfer window, and a modest price tag of £10million is what Wenger wants.

The boss will make a decision on the full-back within the next month, as he reportedly aims to clear out the deadwood to make way for a world-class signing.
