Reports in the English media featured heavy rumours that the Swedish international could be on his way to the Emirates, with just one year left on the strikers contract.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea were linked to the forward, and a tempting price of just £11million was reported to be in the hands of Arsene Wenger, who has been a long-term admirer of Ibrahimovic.

It was believed the Gunners were ready to make a move for the unsettled 33-year-old, who has become frustrated at PSG following their early quarter-final exit from this seasons Champions League.

The situation looked to be one that would help both parties, with pundits still intending Arsenal need to bulk up on a world-class striker. However, whilst speaking in an interview recently, the Swedish captain destroyed the hopes of Premier League fans.

I belong to PSG, and I have a one-year contract with them. It is the media who talk about the rumours. But there is nothing behind them.

During a transfer window, you never know what can happen. But I will not leave, I appreciate PSG and we had a fantastic season. The project here is still developing.

The news will disappoint many Arsenal fans, who are still waiting for Arsene Wenger to pull out his wallet for a top striker, and the Gunners have been linked to plenty of names.

Both Alvaro Negredo and Karim Benzema have been rumoured with a move to the Emirates for next season, but Wenger is keeping tight-lipped on his transfer plans.

Things didn’t pick up either when one of the many targets, Jackson Martinez, all but confirmed he is set for a move to AC Milan in the coming days, another huge blow for Arsenal in this summers transfer window.

Gunners supporters do have something good to shout about though, check it out here!
