Arsenal have been handed a timely fitness boost with the return to fitness of Danny Welbeck, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
On Welbeck, Wenger said: ‘(He) is back in the group. Apart from that we have the same squad available as last week.’
Welbeck is likely to replace Chuba Akpom or Calum Chambers on the bench for Arsenal’s trip to White Hart Lane. With Alexis Sanchez out, Wenger will be happy to have Welbeck back amongst those available.
24-year-old Welbeck had led the line for Arsenal for much of the season until he got injured in December. The English forward was starting to find form for both club and country and became England’s first choice striker in Sturridge’s absence. His qualities are obvious. He’s very quick and a hard working player. Capable of playing up front or on the wing, Welbeck gives Wenger many alternative options in his attacking line-up.
Would you like to see Welbeck come straight back into the line-up? I personally think this game would come too soon, but I do think he could have a big impact from the bench. I’d keep the front three of Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil, whilst I’d be tempted to hand Tomas Rosicky a start. Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment below.
