Confirmed: Arsenal Wrap Up Their First Summer Signing

The deal has been teasing us since Christmas, but it looks as if we’ve finally got confirmation that Arsenal have wrapped up their first summer signing.

That’s because Sky Sports News broke the story we’ve all been hearing for the last few months, that Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac will join Arsenal.

The 23-year-old reportedly completed his medical last month and will officially become an Arsenal player on July 1st, a day after his contract runs out with Schalke.

So who is he? Well, despite landing him on a free this is a player that could help the Gunners out in a number of different ways, both financially and tactically.

His arrival places doubt on fellow full-back Kieran Gibbs, who may be looking to move away from the Emirates in search of regular playing time.

Kolasinac can play at LB, CB and has had a few stints in the central defensive midfield area so will be up for a challenge when he meets up with his new teammates.

He’s from Bosnia and has played a key role whenever he’s put on the shirt, and has a cutting edge attitude when it comes to winning the ball back.

We’ve had one eye on how Kolasinac has been doing since these reports emerged and I’ve gotta say, he’s a player that can thrive in this new wing-back role.

His youth gives him excellent energy on the flanks and he’s well-built which allows him to get back and make a strong tackle when needed, something Gibbs isn’t known for.

Kolasinac is the first of many signings expected to join the club this summer as Arsenal prepare for the biggest reshuffle in history, but does this mean Wenger is staying?
