Chelsea Target Could Join Arsenal For Just £8million

Sami Khedira’s price appears to have fallen dramatically. According to reports in Spain, he has been put on the market for as little as £8million.

The Real Madrid midfielder has been heavily linked with Arsenal over the summer but earlier this week his manager Carlo Ancelotti said he was going nowhere. Arsene Wenger and the players agent have previously refused to comment on a potential move to Arsenal, fuelling speculation further.

It was originally thought Khedira would cost around £20million, but according to the latest from Spain it seems Madrid do not want to lose Khedira for nothing next season when his contract expires. Arsenal should take advantage and get Khedira for a cut price now.

Khedira’s game is built around his powerful frame and his huge presence alone would create a new dimension in Arsenal’s midfield. He’s also very energetic. He can press and pass well, but again, is not as tidy as the normal Arsenal midfielder. He will create room for others, scare opponents and be strong and accurate in the tackle. Wenger had opted to covert Arteta to a defensive midfielder and sign Flamini rather than bring in someone of Khedira’s ilk, but now he has identified the need for such a player, after watching our midfield get bullied in the big games this season.

The risks with signing Khedira are his high salary and injury concerns. At £8million these risks seem more minor than deal breaking. If there is a chance to add someone as good as Khedira for that price, you can’t say no. Other targets in this position include William Carvalho, who even at £22million, would represent decent value considering his potential.
