Bags Packed? 3 Arsenal Stars Set To Leave By The End Of The Month

2 – Joel Campbell

Usually when it comes to articles like these I completely agree with the players that are heading away, but I think a host of Arsenal fans join me in being frustrated at this one.

In my opinion, Campbell is the worst treated player to grace an Arsenal shirt since I began supporting the club, and if he is to depart this season Wenger will have some questions to answer.

Despite his struggles to hold down a work permit in the early years of his Gunners career, this season looked to be his year with Theo Walcott struggling to perform on the right wing.

Along with The Ox’s injury troubles, it left the pathway clear for the Costa Rican to cement his position on the flanks following a series of standout performances in both the league and FA Cup.

Granted, it took him some time to find his feet in this squad but once he was comfortable the confidence began to shine through, so what exactly happened to him at the end of the season?

Well as Alex Iwobi burst on to the scene it seems Wenger forgot who Campbell was as he got shoved to the bottom of the pile and on many occasions left out of the match-day squad entirely.

So who’s in for the talented winger? Well, just a few weeks ago it looked as if a move to Vilarreal was wrapped up and Arsenal fans would soon forget about the midfielder.

In a recent statement he claimed that staying on and fighting for game time was at the top of his agenda, which put to bed any immediate exit rumours.

But whether Wenger see’s the same potential in him as he did all those years ago, Campbell has a massive task on his shoulder to be in the starting XI week after week.

A move away from the Emirates could easily see Campbell go for at least £15million in this type of market, and a host of clubs would jump at the chance when/if he’s up for sale.

Sadly I see no other option than letting him go, because the British core of Walcott and Ox is too much for Arsene to wave away after the huge fuss we made about it back in 2013.
