2nd place – Mesut Özil
Despite only making three appearances for The Gunners this month, Mesut Özil has earned his place on this list.
In his first appearance of the season – against Everton – he demonstrated why he is one of the best midfielders in world football. His passing was perfect, his movement was outstanding and he was at the centre of all our attacks in a game we looked destined to lose. Mesut’s creativity and commitment were major factors in our comeback against the Merseyside club.
Against Beşiktaş, the 25-year-old glided around the pitch – finding space and opportunity in equal measure. He was, yet again, central to every one of our attacks, and he used his pace and trickery to relieve our defence of pressure on numerous occasions.
Mesut continued his excellent form against Leicester City – keeping our midfield ticking and maintaining possession under pressure – and this promising performance ended a fantastic month for the German.
