4th place – Olivier Giroud
Another player who has had a rollercoaster month is Olivier Giroud. His wonder goal in the Community Shield won him the official man of the match award, and his cameo in our Premier League opener helped structure our attacks and score the winning goal against Crystal Palace.
Next up was an extremely poor performance in our 0-0 draw against Beşiktaş which caused many fans to doubt the Frenchman’s ability. Was he Arsenal standard? Was he going to let us down this season?
Poor fitness and poor form forced Wenger to drop Olivier against Everton. Luckily for us, Giroud refused to let his head drop, and delivered one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt after coming on as a sub in the second half. His creativity, determination and lovely header saved us from the humiliation of another defeat to The Toffees, and also won him Fresh Arsenal’s Man of the Match award.
Giroud will be out until January due to an injury he picked up at Goodison Park. I wish him all the best with his recovery, and award him 4th place on this list.
