3rd place – Calum Chambers
Calum Chambers performed exceptionally well in both our Emirates Cup games, and his good form continued against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Beşiktaş.
If this list was based on our first five games in August, Calum would have easily topped the list. However, a nightmare performance against Everton has seen him drop two places on this list. Numerous mistakes, lapses in concentration and panicky moments during the game cost Arsenal dearly, and his rash challenge on Lukaku allowed The Toffees to score an easy second goal. The youngster didn’t cover himself in glory in the game against Leicester either.
Despite this shocking performance, there is a lot of admire about Chambers’ first couple of performances for the club. He has shown great maturity, composure and technique since joining, and it looks like he’ll be a key player for Arsenal in the near future.
Calum earned his first England call-up this month, which is almost as good as finishing third on this list. Well done Calum!
