Arsene: Why no Draxler?

For a man that takes an unprecedented amount of risks,( squad burnout), why no Draxler? I’m not going to slaughter Arsene, because last time I did that a thing called Ozil happened. However, when it’s widely reported and known that a deal for Julian Draxler of Schalke was in the waterworks, especially for summer, with some quoting it as agreed, why mess around in January?

The Arsenal squad is at its knees once again, a season after season speciality of ours. Somehow, with the strongest and deepest midfield in the league, Arsenal have come unstuck and tripped themselves into an injury crisis—no thanks to a nutty, two footing Frenchman. Ramsey’s facing an extended stay off the pitch again, a huge blow with a horrific run of fixtures on the horizon. Wilshere’s got an injury, perfectly in time with his return to form, not like that’s ever happened before…It’s as if unseen hands do their very best to disrupt Arsenal every single season. No team suffers from the amount of freak injuries like Arsenal do. It’s tiring. I’m not even mentioning Theo. Harrowing stuff. Arteta has been off the boil for the majority of the season, so fresh legs and respite is needed there, especially when his co-partner is a maniac.

So why, when the problems are mounting up and the fixtures are kicking into hard-core mode, not pay the asking price for Draxler. Just get it done. That’s all there is too it. You want a player, and you want them now rather then later, then pay up; even give a little sweetener. This is the best chance at the league; I’m getting so bored of saying that. When the team is starting to hit a few bumps, why hesitate when it comes to signing a quality talent to give the team the crucial mid-season boost? I find it baffling. For a man of Wenger’s intelligence, why is he so foolishly stubborn to meet the the modern day demands with cash to burn? And yes, there really is cash to burn. If it was going to happen in the summer, there is absolutely no difference what so ever in ensuring it happens in January. Schalke ideally want to sell while they have the upper hand. Draxler’s keen; why tour our training ground if he wasn’t. He’s German. So that box is ticked. He’s a big talent on the up. That’s another box ticked. He’s tall and fast, can possibly play as striker whilst properly covering Walcott’s absence. Check. He’s performed in the few champions’ league games he’s been in. Check. Am I missing something here? Why so scared Arsene?

It’s a disappointing end to the transfer window when it promised so much. The fear now is one injury to Giroud and Arsenal find themselves in a lions den. I can’t bear to see another Bendter air shot. It’s too painful.

A quick word on the failed loan bid for Kalou (no, this isn’t a joke), just shows the hash Arsenal have made of things again. What’s more embarrassing, the fact that it’s Salomon Kalou, or that we actually failed, in other words, were rejected. Ozil was even a botch job, albeit a rather spectacular one. It begs the question: why do we always seem to be in this situation? Surely, there is a deeper lying problem else, what is the excuse?

I thought the times were changing. All we can do now is sit back, clasp our hands together, and pray we get through the next month or two. A dash of luck wouldn’t go a miss either.
