Arsenal’s Top Five Goals of the Season

1 – Wilshere vs Norwich (Home)

And here it is – in all of its predictable beauty.

Jack Wilshere’s goal against Norwich will go down as one of greatest goals in Premier League history.

A succession of passes starting from inside our own box brought us to the edge of Norwich’s, before Cazorla, Wilshere and Giroud executed one of the most intricate and beautiful passing displays I’ve ever seen.

Cazorla lays the ball off to Wilshere after floating in from the left, who then toe pokes it back to the Spaniard, who passes it to Giroud.  The Frenchman then chips the ball with a back heel – which I didn’t think was possible – just behind Wilshere.  Instead of letting  it slip away, the Englishman uses the outside of his trailing foot to flick the ball back over to Giroud, who chips it one last time beyond the Norwich defenders, allowing Jack to tap the ball into the back of the net.

The reason this goal piped Rosicky’s to the number one spot was simple.  If you took Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, and asked them to replicate the move on a pitch with no opposition players, I doubt they’d ever manage it.  The same couldn’t be said for Rosicky’s, which although lovely, could be replicated after a few attempts.

Do you agree with my top five?  If not, make sure to leave the goals you thought were better in the comments.
