Key Names On The Tour
A number of standout names have been included for the Barclays Asia Trophy, which is the first Arsenal have participated in since it began in 2003.
Petr Cech could be in line to make his first appearance in a Gunners jersey following his recent £11million switch from Chelsea.
The goalkeeper recently announced he will wear the number 33 shirt in honour of him starting a new journey at 33 years of age.
Arsene Wenger has also taken Wojciech Szczesny and Emiliano Martinez so there could be a number of changes between the sticks over the three day period.
Other names on the list include Callum Chambers who has returned from holiday early to ensure he is ready to fight for a position at the start of next season.
Chambers mainly featured on the substitute bench whilst representing England at the Under 21’s European Championships, and feels he has already had enough time away from the club.
As well as the obvious inclusion of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla, the in-form Jack Wilshere will aim to continue his impressive style of play that he showed for England during their Euro 2016 qualifiers.
During the first conference in Singapore, Wenger mentioned that Wilshere can play just as well out on the wing, which has fuelled speculation that we could see him in a new position next season and that could well be tested out in the coming days.
Players fighting to get some game time will finally be unleashed to show why they deserve to be first on the team sheet, and both Chuba Akpom and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be buzzing to get some minutes out in Singapore.
The pair have become understudies in their positions towards the end of last season, and now Wenger will be watching to see where they are best suited among the starting eleven.
