He may be unbeaten since the second game of the season, but Arsene Wenger’s future at the Gunners is far from sorted… however, reports in Italy state the club could have the answer.

It’s believed that there is already intent to extend the 67-year-old’s contract, which runs out at the end of this season, but he will make the final decision on what he feels is best.

And it looks as if that response has got Arsenal chiefs sweating over who could replace a man that has done so much for a football club in the last 20 years.

But according to a report in Italian media that has been picked up by the Daily Mirror, Diego Simeone is the man topping the wish list when looking for Wenger’s replacement.

The article reveals that Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir has failed on two occasions to get the Athletico Madrid boss over to Serie A, despite tempting him with an eye-watering pay packet.

Given his love of playing attractive football and expertise in man-management, Arsenal see him as someone that has worked his way up the managerial path in the shadows of Wenger.

And it’s exactly for that reason that the Gunners are reportedly prepared to do battle with Europe’s top clubs to get the La Liga boss over to North London in the near future.

Simeone has already shown his ability as a manager but results have started to slip this season and a move away to compete in the ‘golden generation’ of the Premier League could be a massive factor in his decision.

To join the likes of Klopp, Guardiola and Mourinho in English management would be a great prospect for all parties, so it’ll be interesting to see where this one goes.

Simeone is a wanted man by a great majority of Arsenal supporters who are a big fan of the admiration and passion he shows towards the game and most importantly to his players.
